What to expect from your treatment

All treatments are customized to meet your individual needs. Before your first session, I'll take the time to understand the history behind any issues you're experiencing, as well as your goals and expectations for the treatment.

I may also conduct some assessments to evaluate the muscles and joints causing discomfort. If necessary, I might observe how you perform certain movements (such as walking, running, squatting, or lunging) to gain a better understanding of the underlying issues.

You'll be asked to complete a medical history questionnaire to ensure that treatments are safe and appropriate for you.

Sometimes, muscular problems can stem from issues elsewhere in the body. For example, back pain might be linked to hip or shoulder dysfunction. Because of this, I may treat areas other than the specific part of your body you're concerned about.

After your treatment, I'll provide you with advice on how to maintain and improve your condition between sessions. This might include exercises, stretching, mobility work, and self-massage techniques.

What do I wear? Will I need to undress?

To effectively treat the area of concern, it's important that I can easily access it. Wearing loose-fitting clothing is ideal. For certain issues, you may need to remove clothing, such as your top, to allow full access to specific areas. Rest assured, I will use towels to cover any parts of your body you wish to keep covered.

To ensure the treatment is as effective as possible, I will need to work on as much of the affected muscle as I can. However, your comfort is my top priority. I will always work within your comfort level and can adapt the treatment as needed.

I’ve heard sports massages hurt, is this true?

 

​You may occasionally feel some discomfort during certain techniques, but if anything becomes too painful or uncomfortable, please let me know, and I'll adjust accordingly. Discomfort often subsides as the massage progresses. I will always work within your comfort levels.

How can I pay?

​

I accept cash, card or BACS, payment is due on day of treatment but you can pre pay.

How often should I get massage? 

​

This depends on you, your injury, your lifestyle and what you can afford. If possible I would recommend fortnightly, however once a month should be sufficient if this works best for you.

Who can benefit from sports massage?

Will you crack my joints?

​

The techniques I use are not intended to crack joints. However, you may occasionally hear a joint crack during treatment. Rest assured, this is completely harmless and won't cause any pain or damage.

What can I expect after treatment?

​

It's normal for to experience some soreness or mild bruising for a couple of days after treatment. This is a typical response to the massage and a sign that your body is beginning the recovery process.

How many treatments will it take to fix me?

​

Everyone responds to treatment differently. While some injuries may only need one or two sessions, others might require more. It's difficult to determine the exact number of treatments needed without first assessing your injury and seeing how you respond to the initial sessions.

What should I do after treatments?

​

I recommend drinking plenty of water to ensure you remain hydrated. As well as this, things such as warm baths may also help the recovery process.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

​

Generally, you do not need a referral. However, if you have a specific medical condition or recent injury, it's advisable to consult with your doctor beforehand. If you are unsure, contact me before booking.
